Twitter Anyone?

One of the most common questions I get asked is, “how do I use Twitter?” Luckily for you, I have some useful answers to help you grow your blog or business using Twitter.

First, I want to share this training that I did with my team to help you get signed up and set up so you can start using Twitter:

Once you have your Twitter account set up, here are some quick tips to help you start building your presence and business on Twitter:

Use images in your tweets

Tweets with images are 94% more likely to get retweeted. Holy cow! So the next time you promote that recent blog post on Twitter, make sure to upload a photo, too. Twitter images are 440x220px, and you’d be doing yourself an even bigger favor to create an image of that size, with your post title on it. Not only will your post stand at in someone’s feed, but they’ll be able to quickly glean why it will be useful.

Share other people’s work

This is a no brainer, but it’s SO important! Twitter is a way for you to grow your community and make real connections with other influencers. The best way to do this? Share other people’s work and don’t forget to “@” them with their username. Also? If you share their posts in an interesting way, they might retweet you, which will get you in front of their Twitter audience, too. Plus, your Twitter followers will get bored if you only share your own stuff. Mix it up by sharing relevant work from others.

Use it as the first point of contact for collaborations

Growing your blog can often mean collaborating with others, whether it be other bloggers or Big Time Brands. If you want to collaborate with an individual or brand, sending them a long email right off the bat (if you’ve never spoken before) might seem a little intrusive. Casually say what’s up on Twitter and let them know you’ve got an idea brewing. That will put you on their radar and will help your collaboration idea seem more personal when you pop it into their inbox in the near future.

Pin a tweet that will grow your following

Twitter now has a function where you can pin a tweet to your profile, so it will always sit at the top. Sometimes I just pin my favorite posts, but you can certainly be more strategic with this — like pinning a tweet letting your followers know that you’re killin’ it on Instagram and they should probably follow you there, too.

Hope this helped you. If you have any questions, please let me know, you can connect with me on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/theresaswendra. Or call/text me at 612-562-8219. I believe in you! Have a beautiful day and we'll see you tomorrow!

Texting in Your Business

Texting your prospects to invite them to a presentation can be super helpful for a new person.  Even for a well established network marketer, texting is becoming more ideal simply because of the way we interact these days.

Does texting replace the excitement and enthusiasm heard in the voice in a phone call?  Not at all.  But texting does overcome the awkwardness and weirdness that many reps display when inviting prospects to a presentation.

Tips On How To Use Texting For Inviting

Your one purpose of texting is to set an appointment to show your presentation.  Remembering this allows you to cut out unnecessary words and information.  You are simply texting to invite, not to present or to explain.

Here is a couple of quick tips on texting.
  • Keep It Personal – don’t get weird and robotic.  Text just like you would to your best friend (or bff in this case).
  • Keep It Simple – you are simply inviting, not presenting.  There is no need to explain, just invite.
  • Do Not Over Analyze – just make conversation in a natural way.  If you over think it, you lose.
  • Consistently Invite – text at least 10 people each day to set appointments.
  • Provide Meeting Options – give at least two options when suggesting a time to meet.
  • 24-48 Hours In Advance – invite 1 or 2 days in advance, not any further.
  • Confirm The Date – once you have the appointment set, let them know you’ve added the time to your calendar.

Why Texting Your Prospects Works

As I mentioned earlier, many new reps are terrified of the phone.  In order to help your rep get off to a quick start most new recruits will have very little resistance to texting.  For most, that should be reason enough because you always want to help your new rep get off to a fast start.  Having them text an invite will get them started immediately by setting up some appointments and seeing some immediate success.

Another reason texting works for inviting your prospects is because of the way our society has embraced texting.  Here are a few statistics around texting:
  • 90% of American adults have a cell phone.
  • 58% of American adults have a smartphone.
  • 143 Million smartphones are in use in the United States.
  • 91% say their phone is in reach 24/7.
  • 78% admit they take their phone to the restroom with them.
  • 95% of all personal text messages get a response.
  • 93% of texts are seen within 3 minutes of receipt.
Keep in mind, this does not say 93% responds in three minutes, so if your prospect does not respond quickly do not freak out.  They may be driving, working, out for a jog or simply busy doing something else.

If you find your texts are not getting a response, evaluate what you are sending and change up what you are sending.  Keep in mind, you are only trying to set an appointment in order to make the presentation, not MAKE the presentation through text.

Here is a training I did on using texting to grow your business:

Get Your Network Marketing Team Started

Here are some suggestions on getting your team into texting activity:
  • Get together for a team challenge and do a text blast.  Who can send the most texts in 30 minutes?  Who can set the most appointments?
  • Have your team set aside 15 minutes per day and encourage them to send 10 texts.
  • Hold a week long challenge and give prizes for the team members who send the most texts and who get the most appointments set up.
  • Reward everyone who participates with recognition and praise.
  • When someone sets 3 appointments, post about it in your teams Facebook page.  This will inspire others.
  • Ask your team to share the texting script that gets the best response.

A Text Invite Challenge For You

Here’s a challenge for you to help you implement what you’ve learned in this post:  Send out 10 texts just to set an appointment to show your presentation.

After you send text and hear back from them, I’d love for you to leave a comment below to let me know how many appointments you were able to set.  I bet you’re going to be surprised at how simple it is!

Once you see for yourself that it works, get your team to do the same thing.  Feel free to share this post with your team too – just think what could happen if everyone on your team set up 3 appointments today just by texting their prospects!  That’s how teams multiply!

Friday Inspiration...

I ran across this little message this morning and just had to share with you guys. This one really touched me as there is just SO much truth to it and it very much applies to our journey here in the home based business world. ENJOY and have a very Happy Friday!!!

It is easy to come up with reasons why you aren’t where you want to be.

It takes work and discipline to push yourself a little every day until one day you are where you want to be.

The amazing thing for those that have done it, you look back and realize somewhere a long the way, it stopped feeling like work.

Somewhere along the way a weight was lifted as you moved closer to your dreams.

You realized you were tired of focusing on what wasn’t working and you were excited about what was.

For those that the rest of the world sees as “Lucky” those individuals had doubts, fears and missed opportunities just like us. For those that the rest of the world sees as “Lucky” those individuals had doubts, fears and missed opportunities just like us.

Yet, somewhere along the way they decided to change their attitude, their approach and ultimately their life…

Start your journey today. ~C.Nordyke

I hope today's post inspired you. Comment and share with your team to inspire them! Feel free to connect with me directly via phone or text at 612-562-8219. We'll see you tomorrow!

Be somebody!

You know who they are. You see them every day.

They exist in the spaces between our busy lives.

He's the security guard that stands between the world outside and your office inside.

She's the register person between your groceries and your car.

She's the bank teller between you and your money.

The train conductor. Dry cleaner. Secretary. The waiter between you and your lunch.

Even your sweet faced children who stand between the front door and your bedroom when you arrive home from work.

They are the familiar faces we see every day. They are the people we spend time with, even for brief moments that make life more meaningful, more connected, more real.

They are the people we encounter between where we were and where we are going.

At various times during your day they stand right before you, here and now.

And I have a theory that says how we treat the people in between our busy lives is directly related to our happiness.

For how we treat the people in between where we were and where we are going is indicative of how we live in the present moment.

If you walk right past the security guard at work without saying hello because you are just too busy then you are not in the present moment. If busyness and stress prevent you from connecting with your co-workers when you arrive at work then you are not in the present moment. And it is during the present moment where happiness, relationships, love and life are created.

To live life fully, then, is to make the most of the time in between where you were and where you are going and the best way to make sure you are doing this is to create meaningful interactions with the people in between. When you really think about it we all represent the people in between for we all live between the lives of each other-connected by phones, cars, roads, trains, oceans, planes, the internet and most of all love and energy.

So share your kindness, time, energy and compassion. Don't let the seemingly insignificant moments slip away for in reality they mean everything. We are all the people in between and when we recognize the significance of each other we also feel it and experience it inside ourselves.

Will you take advantage of these powerful moments? I hope you found value in today's post. Feel free to comment and share with your team. If you have any questions or if there is anything I can help you with, please feel free to reach me directly via phone or text at 612-562-8219. Have a beautiful day and we'll see you tomorrow. I believe in you!

Love your team!

Enthusiasm is important. Love is the answer! To really and I mean really tap the power of your heart and lead with positive, contagious energy you must love your team members. Find the value in each of them. Help them find their gold. Help them to discover their strengths, allow them to do what they do best. Letting people share their strengths and gifts is real love. And by you loving them and helping them find their gold they will shine and so will you. When you bring out the best in others, you can't help but bring out the best in yourself!

I want to share with you 5 ways to love your team members:

1. Make Time for Them: When you love someone or something, you spend time with them. You nurture your relationship with them. Get to know your team. Cultivate them with love. Be present with them. Don't be thinking about other things you have to do that day. Really be with that person and focus your energy on them. They will feel the difference.

2. Listen to Them: Do you hear what your team members say? Do you hear what your customers or prospects say? They want to be heard so listen to them and hear them. Not active listening but really sitting down and listening with your heart and caring about what they have to say. Empathy is key. Let them know they are seen and heard.

3. Recognize Them: I am not talking about trophies or award dinners. Make it personal. Honor them for who they are and what they do. Recognize them as a person as much as a business professional. The more you recognize them for doing things right, the more they will do things right. Feed the positive and watch it grow!

4. Serve Them: The higher you get in an organization, the more it is your duty to serve the people below you rather than having the people below you serve you. The key is to serve their growth, their future, their career, their spirits so they enjoy work, life and being on your bus (on your team). The more you serve their growth, the more they will help you grow.

5. Bring Out the Best in Them: When you love someone, you want the best for them. You want them to be successful and happy. You want to bring out the best in them. The best way to do this is to help each person discover their strengths and provide an opportunity for that person to utilize them. When you create a system that provides a way for people to shine, you not only bring out the best in them, but in the rest of the team and the company as well. If you really want to love your team, help them do what they do best. Its that simple!

I am here to love you, help you and bring out the best in you!

Here's to a beautiful and productive day~ Please feel free to comment and share this post with your team. You can connect with me at www.facebook.com/theresaswendra or call/text me at 612-562-8219. See you tomorrow!

Your Purpose

Finding success when you are building a business seems like a mystery sometimes.  You hear people tell you to do this, and then others to tell you to do something else.  One thing you’ll always hear is how important consistency is.  …and you’ll also learn that success comes by learning a few skills really well and then taking action in a few different areas consistently.

“Consistency is key in building your business.”  “You must be consistent at inviting and presenting.”  “You must consistently find new prospects.”  “You must work your business like a business, not a hobby.”  “If you treat it like a hobby, it will pay like a hobby.” — all phrases that remind you how important consistency.

For most starting out, it is a side job or a business on the side, which makes consistency an even larger challenge, right?

That’s why you often hear “create a why that will make you cry.”  There has to be a reason you do this business that is deeper than just earning some extra money.  The no’s and rejection alone will prevent most people from being consistent.

There has to be something tugging at the “heart” to be consistent, right?

Others will tell you to have a powerful vision to keep you on track.  A strong and powerful vision of who you want to become is much stronger and longer lasting than your “why.”  ….though many people use the words “why” and “vision” interchangeably.

This is just a thought and curiosity question, but how does “purpose” and “life purpose” play into your business?  Or does it not matter?

Your Purpose

It’s one of those age-old questions – “What am I here for?”

“What is my purpose in life?”  Do you ever ask yourself that question?  Do you have it figured out?

This post may be very different than most, maybe a little more personal and a lot more reflective.  But I must confess, I’ve wondered about my purpose and how I’m fulfilling my purpose.  Does your business have anything to do with your purpose in life?  Or better yet, how can your business help fulfill your purpose in life?

Having a “powerful why” is rather commercially digestible, it sounds good and often times it gets you a quick payoff because you get a pat on the back and someone nodding their head in agreement.  When you “pay off the debt” or “retire your husband” or whatever your why is, then what?

Having a well crafted vision is about you and what you want to accomplish.  It’s powerful.  It will pull you.

But I fear many leave out an area of their vision that is connected to their purpose in life.

Here’s where I struggle with this post… I don’t know your purpose, but I know mine.

When I struggled with consistency, I had not aligned my purpose, my vision and my business into sync.  I had my purpose, I had my vision of what I wanted for me and I had my business.
The three felt like three separate entities that overlapped in a few ways but were not playing out in harmony.

This caused a serious problem with my consistency.  …and the lack of consistency was not allowing me to succeed the way needed in order to successfully pull off any of the three.

My purpose in life is to impact lives and to spread Joy, Peace and happiness to the world around me.  It’s to bring glory to God and to help others experience His love.  My purpose is to live to my full potential and to help others do the same.  Average is not an option, it’s not who I am called to be.  It’s my purpose to create other winners and to help others get to the top and to live to their full potential.
My purpose is not something I take lightly.  Because of some changes in life, I found myself struggling knowing how to live out my purpose.

The way purpose plays out through my business: Helping people rank advance, helping them grow their business and raising up leaders and top earners.  I want to impact my team, and those who listen to, read and watch my content.  I have a sphere of influence and I want to serve them well.  I want to inspire people to be their best and to live to their full potential.  I want people to be a part of a fun community who enjoy life.  I want to create more smiles.  I want to help people create bigger bank accounts.

When my vision, purpose and “why” all aligned, being consistent became so much easier to pull off because my daily actions and daily routine had a purpose that were filling both today’s agenda and the future’s agenda.

Knowing that today’s actions serves my why, my vision and my ultimate purpose keeps me inspired, passionate and on track.

I needed a clearer vision to connect my life purpose, my vision and my business together.  I had been departmentalizing the three….and that kept me from being as consistent as I would like.

So here’s my encouragement to you.  If you’ve struggled with being consistent in your business, search deeper and get a clear understanding of what you’re trying to accomplish.  Why are you REALLY doing your business?  What are you really trying to accomplish?  Does your why, vision and purpose in life sync?  How can you use your business to better fulfill your purpose.

Without a doubt, building a business offers freedom – both time and financial.  That opens the door to being able to make an impact in many ways and in many different areas.  Sync up your purpose with your business, why and daily routine.  When you do this, you’ll find yourself unstoppable AND impacting lots of lives.

Quick Tips for Inviting

Why Is Inviting Important

Before you can present, recruit or build a team, you invite.  The better you become at inviting, the better you’ll be at building your business .  If you can train your team to invite, multiplication and duplication will take place.  Today, I want to share a couple of quick tips to help you get better at inviting:

1. Do Not Be Addicted To The Outcome – For some reason, we act as if everyone we share our opportunity with should say yes.  You have a super passion and a deep belief in what you are doing, so when others do not see it, we often wonder what we are doing wrong or why they don’t “get it.”  Trust me, I totally get that! I was the same way.  But being “addicted to the outcome” is counter productive.

When you are addicted to the outcome, the nos begin to weigh you down, you begin to take the “rejection” personally and you end up not taking action.

Realize this:  no one has ever succeeded in building a successful business without thousands of nos.  Don’t take it personally, and do not care if it’s a yes or a no.  Your job is to simply share the opportunity and get eyes on the presentation.

2. Show Excitement & Enthusiasm – You have to be excited and show enthusiasm for your opportunity.  Why would anyone want to partner with you in business if you’re not excited about what you have going on?  Your enthusiasm will get more people to watch your presentation.  Your enthusiasm creates curiosity and will help get others excited about what you are doing.  A lack of excitement is a huge turn off.

3. Don’t Talk Too Much – One of the biggest problems most people have during their invite is they say too much.  They try to over explain or give too many details.  This is where you need to go back to the way you invite people to dinner or for lunch.  You simply say “Hey, want to go to lunch tomorrow?”  I’ve heard someone reason say this: “We seem to know more about inviting before we get into building a business.  As soon as we get in, we seem to forget how to invite.”
Isn’t that the truth?  Don’t talk too much, don’t over explain and simply invite them.

4. Be Busy When You Invite – Were you like me the first time you heard this?  I thought if you were inviting someone it would be rude to be in a hurry and not have the time to address some of their questions.  By addressing some of their questions, you’re not addressing ALL of their questions and they are much more likely to pre-judge without hearing all of the details.
Busy folks are the ones who are the movers and shakers.  Busy people are the ones getting things done.  Busy people attract other people to them because busy people are the ones who have success.

Also, by being busy, you prevent yourself from saying too much.  Your purpose of inviting is to get them to a presentation, not to explain at the time of the invite.

By being busy you create curiosity about what you’re up to.  There are so many positive reasons around being busy!

5. Do Not Send Links Through email or Social Media – The reasons for this could easily go into the hundreds, but simply put, it’s not professional.  Have you heard the saying “treat your business like a business and it will pay like a business?”  How many professional business people do you know who would try to close a deal via email?  If Donald Trump wanted to do business with Warren Buffett, do you think he would send a link to the business presentation through email or leave a post on his Facebook.

If you want to get better at inviting, do not go straight to the pitch but instead get people to a presentation.

Social media can be great for your business, that’s why I use it.  But it’s not the place for making an effective invite to build your business.

The best way to get better at inviting prospects to see your network marketing opportunity is to simply invite.

Invite 10 people and then evaluate what worked and what did not work.

Then invite 10 more and do the same.

Then invite 10 more prospects and evaluate what you did again.

The more you invite, the better you get.  The more you evaluate what you did and the responses that you received, the better you’ll become.

Whatever you do, keep inviting and keep starting conversations.  It’s the best way to get good at inviting.

Hope you found these tips helpful. Please feel free to reach me directly at 612-562-8219 if you have any questions. Have a beautiful and successful day and we'll see you tomorrow!
